The physical and mental wellness benefits from practicing yoga are astounding. Some of the benefits of Yoga include developing flexibility, strength and balance, as well as lowering stress, anxiety and depression. A general improvement of one's overall physical and mental well-being can be expected by incorporating yoga into one's excercise regimen.

The Center of Motion offers a variety of yoga classes.  Below is a description of each type.  Please click on the type of class you would like to see the schedule of ongoing classes.

Vinyasa Flow Yoga

The word Vinyasa means "breath-synchronized movement." This technique is sometimes referred to as Vinyasa Flow or jut Flow because of the smooth transition between poses appearing like a dance. It consists of carefully arranged sequences of asanas (yoga postures) with movement from one asana to the next following the breath on an inhale or exhale.

Iyengar Yoga

One of the world's most widely practiced forms, emphasizes the correct alignment of all parts of the body within each yoga asana (posture).  This precision of approach builds strength and stamina, balance and flexibility, and a new sense of well-being.  Achieving meditation in action, the practitioner leans to exist fully and vibrantly in the present moment.  The teacher will modify the classic asanas for individual students with the use of props, such as blocks, blankets and belts.  Props allow for a deeper penetration into the posture, as well as a longer stay.  Iyengar Yoga teachers use their deep-seated knowledge of the asanas to individualize corrections for each student.  Students know they are observed and, if necessary, adjusted.  Clear demonstrations of the posture, a well-developed eye, specific teaching points which awaken the body's intelligence.  These are the marks of an Iyengar Yoga teacher.

Breath Meditation Vinyasa

This gentle Vinyasa Yoga class will focus on a meditative use of the breath with movement, to create a sense of relaxation into self, and the realization of one's connection to living energy.

Lakshimi Voelker Chair Yoga(R)

Chair Yoga is considered the most gentle form of yoga available. Most of the exercises are done while sitting on, leaning on, or holding onto a chair.
